Airport Andorra – La Seu d’Urgell – June 2025

Did a resist a touch-and-go on this beautiful airport near the Pyrenees, on the way to Vliegveld Andorra. The approach offered breathtaking views over rugged mountains and winding valleys, making it a memorable flying experience.

From above, the landscape unfolds like a storybook, dense forests, sparkling mountain lakes, and the charming town of La Seu d’Urgell nestled in the valley. It's the perfect place to reconnect with the joy of flying and to inspire future aviators.

In June 2025, we made a short hop to Andorra where we briefly met an enthusiastic prospect. Unfortunately, the weather, hot and too windy, made it impossible to do a proper demo flight. Still, it was a pleasure to present the Sling TSI on one of the most impressive airfields of northern Spain.

We’re always eager to meet people who share our passion for aviation. Whether you're considering building your own aircraft or just want to explore the skies, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s plan something special together.

Airport Madrid – Cuatro Vientos – May 2025

A customer was impressed by the performance of the Sling TSI. We had a lunch on the airport, did a demo flight, and we spoke a lot about the building process, tools, setbacks, and the glory of the maiden flight. We are sure we’ll meet the customer again in the near future to guide him in building his dream.

Flying into Madrid’s historical aerodrome is a special treat. Surrounded by Spain’s capital, the flight path offers a stunning contrast of urban landscape and distant mountains. The airfield itself breathes history, being the oldest airport in Spain still in operation.

It’s always exciting to meet people like him, motivated, curious, and full of questions. Whether you're at the start of your building journey or just dreaming of it, we love to share experiences and help others make their first steps skyward.

Airport Lagos – April 2025

A picturesque stop on Portugal’s southern coast, Lagos airfield offers a relaxed vibe, smooth operations, and postcard-perfect views. Ideal for short field operations and coastal cruising, it’s a favorite for sun-seeking pilots.

From above, the cliffs of the Algarve stretch endlessly into the sea. Tiny fishing boats dot the shoreline, and whitewashed villages gleam under the sun. It’s a serene flight, made even better by the warm welcome on the ground.

In April 2025, we were invited to present the Sling TSI at a model airplane enthusiast event. Over two days, we did several demo flights with passionate locals. The owner of the airfield welcomed us warmly, and we met instructors from the local flight school. It was the perfect chance to explore Portugal’s southern coastline from above.

Lagos is a perfect location to meet pilots and enthusiasts who dream of more than just a weekend flight!

Airport Vélez-Málaga – February 2025

Just inland from the Costa del Sol, Vélez-Málaga is a lively little airfield surrounded by subtropical crops, rugged hills, and vibrant towns. We landed here under warm skies with the sea glittering in the distance.

This region blends Andalusian charm with perfect flying weather. From above, the coast stretches endlessly to the east and west, with the Sierra de Tejeda mountains looming inland, an incredible panorama with every circuit.

From 7 to 9 February 2025, we visited a customer in Málaga. The approach, at flight level 95 near the snowy Sierra Nevada, was stunning. Upon arrival, the customer was already waiting, and we flew together with his wife along the beautiful, winding coastline. After a lovely dinner and some time exploring the city, we waved them goodbye and took off for our return flight.

Airport Totana – January 2025

Located in the heart of Murcia’s countryside, Totana is a rustic gem. We flew over rolling vineyards, sun-scorched hills, and olive groves as far as the eye can see. The airstrip itself is quiet and welcoming, ideal for a peaceful stop or test flight.

The approach is scenic and calming, with natural colors shifting from ochre to green as you near the airfield. It’s a wonderful place to pause, breathe, and appreciate the sheer joy of flying low and slow.

On 26 and 27 January, we met an enthusiastic pilot who had just started his PPL training. Curious about the capabilities of the Sling TSI, he joined us for a demo flight. Afterwards, we were invited into their home for a warm and memorable evening full of hospitality.

Totana has proven to be a great location for chatting with fellow aviators about plans, ideas, or even future builds. If you're in the area and want to share stories or take a closer look at the Sling, let us know!

Transferflight Netherlands – Spain – January 2025

3 & 4 January 2025

We began our transfer journey from the Netherlands to Spain early in the year.

  • Day 1: Departure from NL to Perpignan, a long but smooth leg across changing landscapes.
  • Day 2: Perpignan to Olocau, a warm welcome awaited us, including dinner with the family and even a lift home. It’s those moments of spontaneous hospitality that make flying through Europe so rewarding.

01-09-2024 Fly In Eindhoven Airport

Just as previous years EACM organising their annual fly-in again, during this day they invite us to visit their homebase Eindhoven Airport (EHEH) by plane.
Just as in previous editions the Fly-in was held on the same day as their annual family event so there was plenty to do, see and eat.

We flew to Eindhoven with the PH-OMG and had a lot of viewings. It was an informative day for people who wants to gain more information about the Sling plane.

05-08-2024 Taildragger Airplanes: A Timeless Aviation Classic

Taildragger airplanes, also known as tailwheel airplanes, hold a special place in the hearts of aviation enthusiasts. Characterized by a conventional landing gear arrangement with two main wheels at the front and a smaller wheel or skid at the tail, these aircraft offer unique challenges and rewards for pilots. Despite the rise of tricycle gear configurations, taildraggers continue to be celebrated for their historical significance, distinctive handling characteristics, and versatility.

A Glimpse into History

The taildragger configuration dates back to the early days of aviation. Iconic aircraft such as the Piper Cub, the de Havilland Tiger Moth, and the legendary Douglas DC-3 are quintessential examples of taildraggers that have left an indelible mark on aviation history. These aircraft were integral to the development of aviation, serving roles from training and bush flying to military and commercial operations.

Distinctive Handling and Training

Piloting a taildragger requires a specific set of skills due to its unique handling characteristics. The position of the center of gravity behind the main wheels can make taildraggers more challenging to control during takeoff and landing, especially in crosswind conditions. Pilots must master techniques such as "s-turns" during taxiing to maintain visibility over the nose and coordinated use of rudder and brakes to prevent ground loops.

Training in a taildragger is often seen as a rite of passage for pilots, enhancing their stick-and-rudder skills. Many flight schools and experienced instructors offer specialized tailwheel training, emphasizing the precision and finesse required to operate these aircraft safely and effectively.

Versatility and Off-Field Capabilities

One of the primary advantages of taildraggers is their versatility, particularly in off-field operations. The design allows for better performance on rough and unprepared surfaces, making taildraggers popular among bush pilots, agricultural aviators, and those operating in remote areas. The robust construction and larger propeller clearance contribute to their suitability for these demanding environments.

A Continuing Legacy

Despite the proliferation of tricycle gear airplanes, taildraggers maintain a devoted following among pilots and aviation enthusiasts. The sense of nostalgia and connection to aviation's golden era, combined with the unique flying experience they offer, ensures that taildraggers remain a beloved choice for many.

Modern manufacturers continue to produce taildraggers, incorporating advanced materials and technology while preserving the traditional design. Aircraft like the Aviat Husky, American Champion Citabria, and the newly introduced Sling Highwing taildragger exemplify the blend of classic design and contemporary innovation.

Conclusion

Taildragger airplanes embody a rich heritage and a distinctive flying experience that continues to captivate pilots worldwide. Their historical significance, unique handling characteristics, and versatility make them an enduring symbol of aviation's adventurous spirit. Whether for training, off-field operations, or the sheer joy of flying, taildraggers offer a timeless connection to the roots of aviation and the thrill of mastering the skies.
